Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
1. Who we are
TrackYour.Finance ("we", "us", "the Service") is a personal finance dashboard. This policy explains what data we collect when you use it, why, and what your rights are. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@trackyour.finance.
2. The core principle: your financial data stays in your Sheet
TrackYour.Finance does not store your transactions, balances, budgets, or any other financial data on our servers or in our database. That data lives entirely in a Google Sheet you own. When you use the dashboard, we read data from your Sheet and, when you add or edit something, we write it back to your Sheet — at request time, over the Google Sheets API. We never keep a copy. Disconnecting your Sheet, or revoking our access in your Google Account, ends our ability to read or write it immediately.
3. Data we do collect, and why
- Account data. Your email address and authentication identifiers, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. If you choose to connect Google Drive, Clerk also manages the resulting OAuth grant on our behalf (see §4).
- Sheet connection metadata. The identifier of the Google Sheet you've connected, its label, and whether you connected it via a shared service account or your own Google account — never the Sheet's contents.
- Preferences. Your chosen currency, language, and dashboard settings.
- Billing data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor, Stripe, handles your card details directly — we never see or store them. We keep a reference to your Stripe customer and subscription status so the app can tell what plan you're on.
- Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand which features are used and how, so we can improve the product — page views and in-app events (such as connecting a Sheet or starting a subscription), linked to your account ID once you sign in, never the contents of your Sheet. PostHog runs without cookies or local storage and is hosted in the EU.
- Account emails. We send a few service emails — a welcome when you connect your Sheet and a reminder before your free trial ends — through Resend, using the email address of your account.
- Error/crash reports. We use Sentry to capture technical error details when something breaks, linked to your account ID, so we can fix it.
4. Google account access
Connecting Google Drive requests two permissions: drive.file — access to a Sheet you explicitly pick through Google's own file picker, or one we create for you at your request — and spreadsheets, which lets our app read and write Google Sheets data directly. Our own code only ever reads or writes the one Sheet you've connected; we never access any other file in your Drive. You can review or revoke this access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
5. Who we share data with
We rely on a small number of service providers (data processors) to run TrackYour.Finance, each limited to the data it needs to do its job: Clerk (authentication), Google (Sheets/Drive API, for the Sheet you connect), Stripe (payment processing), PostHog (product analytics), Sentry (error monitoring), Resend (sending account emails), and Fly.io and Neon (application hosting and database infrastructure). We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else for marketing purposes. Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area; where that happens, they do so under recognized safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep data
Account and preference data is kept for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterward where needed for legal or billing records. Financial data is never retained by us in the first place — see §2. You can request deletion of your account and associated metadata at any time (§7).
7. Your rights
If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK, or anywhere with similar data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You can delete your account and everything we hold about you yourself, at any time, from Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. To exercise any of the other rights, email contact@trackyour.finance. If you're in Spain, you may also lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).
8. Cookies
We only use cookies that are strictly necessary: session cookies from Clerk, which keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics (PostHog, see §3) store nothing on your device, so there is no cookie banner to accept. You can block or clear cookies through your browser's own settings at any time; doing so will sign you out, but won't affect your Sheet or its data.
9. Children
TrackYour.Finance is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 16.
10. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect the data we do hold — encrypted connections, access controls, and reputable third-party providers for the functions described above. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to keep what little we hold safe, and, deliberately, we hold as little as possible.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and post material changes prominently in the app.
